Weekend Worship Blast – May 6, 2018

The hope of Easter continues as this Sunday’s gospel tells a story of unexpected community. While walking along the road, a follower of Jesus meets a royal officer from a distant land. The man is an Ethiopian, returning home after visiting Jerusalem. He had come to worship at the temple, but seems still to be searching for more. As the two men talk along the way, suddenly the Ethiopian asks to be baptized. Though he is far from home, he finds welcome and belonging in this new family of faith. The text for Jonathan’s sermon is Acts 8:26-40, and his sermon reflects on “Family Ties.”

After worship enjoy a donut to keep you going, and don’t forget our special congregational gathering about our new education, children and youth facilities, on which we will break ground shortly. We hope that you have received a letter and brochure about the project and can join us in the sanctuary at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. After the conversation, please join your church family for a picnic style lunch in Wesley Hall! All are invited.

After 3rd service it’s also Taco Night, with our traditional feast of chicken, pork & steak tacos, rice & beans, chips & salsa, as well as something to drink for the suggested donation of $5/person or $15/family.

See you at church!
