This is Hunger is a community engagement program that illuminates the profound prevalence of hunger in America. They bring awareness of the 42.2 million Americans who struggle with hunger every day and ignite a commitment to end hunger by providing a 45-minute interactive experience on wheels. Sunday, January 28-Tuesday, January 30, This is Hunger will have a 53-foot-long double expandable trailer with almost 1,000 square feet of interior space parked at the Congregation Ner Tamid, 5721 Crestridge Road, RPV, to take participants on a multi-media voyage of awareness and activism.
Participants enter the truck and are invited to sit at a communal table to meet, virtually, real people struggling with hunger. Portraits are projected at each end of the table, one by one, as they share their stories in their own voices and in their own words.
This is Hunger project is a compelling experience that combines community outreach, civic engagement, education and advocacy. The experience promises to be deeply impactful and can hopefully shape our perceptions and discourse on food insecurity in America.
