As a part of the Danish Government International Cultural Exchange Program this artistic collaboration brings new, original Danish music across the Atlantic, to be performed with local, high profile choral ensembles. The piece ‘Gallop of Fire’ commemorates the people affected by the California wildfires and it will be premiered in California. The repertory also includes classical choral music, and Danish a cappella pieces.

The Copenhagen Girls’ Choir rates among the best of its kind in Denmark and is recognized abroad for their homogenous sound – a result of the extensive voice-training that all the singers go through. The choir was founded in 1973 and is under the patronage of H.R.H. Princess Benedikte. On this US-tour they will be performing with the award-winning Scandinavian ensemble Afenginn and the unique Danish pedal steel player Maggie Bjorklund.

Composer and front man in Afenginn, Kim Nyberg, has a strong Nordic voice in his compositions that encompasses classical composition techniques, Scandinavian folk music and the odd meters of eastern European music. This very evocative style has won Nyberg and Afenginn several Music Awards through the years and the trademark of Afenginn is srprising and beautiful music and superb live performances. Maggie Bjorklund’s exceptional and poetic pedal steel playing is an interesting link between Denmark and the US as she has been touring extensively in the US as soloist and with American artists, such as Jack White.
