September 6, 2026 – Nancy Wallis, “God of Midpoints”
Sermon: sermon
This week’s Scripture follows God telling Moses how the tenth and final plague will culminate in Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery. In between this announcement and their actual fleeing, the narrator pauses to describe in detail how they are to prepare their ceremonial lamb for this first Passover. This is a foretaste of Jesus’ transformation of the Passover, when he instituted the Last Supper on the night before he became the sacrificial Lamb of God, followed by his resurrection and our redemption on Easter Sunday. The Passover blessing of Israel has been extended to the world. All those who are in Christ, the Passover Lamb, have become God’s children. We celebrate our freedom in Christ with the ritual of the Last Supper, or Holy Communion. This Sunday we invite Dr. Nancy Wallis, a RHUMC member and candidate for pastoral ministry, to deliver a sermon entitled “God of Midpoints”. The text for Sunday is Exodus 12:1-14.

September 20, 2026 – Sunny Park, “Grace in the Detour”
Sermon: sermon
Life rarely moves in a straight line, but when our planned paths take an unexpected turn, God often meets us there with gifts of surprise. This Sunday, we will explore how those unexpected turns, pauses, and pivots are sometimes the very paths that lead us to where we are truly meant to be. Even when the Israelites grumbled in their uncertainty, God answered their anxiety with a daily, miraculous downpour of bread and meat. Come prepared to shift your focus from the frustration of life’s interruptions to the beauty of God’s perfect provision. The title of Sunny’s sermon is “Grace in the Detour,” and the scripture is Exodus 16:2-18
