Youth will confirm their faith and become baptized, professing members of the church during worship on Sunday, May 19, 2019. The day before, on Saturday, May 18, at 10 am, youth and parents/families will gather for brunch and a time of sharing and celebration followed by a rehearsal of the confirmation ceremony.
Classes, mentoring, and a pathway of spiritual growth will prepare each youth for Confirmation Sunday.
“What is a Christian?” with Rev. April Herron offered on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 11:30 am and Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 pm (choose the date/time that works for you, class is 90 minutes in length)
“How to Read the Bible” with Rev. Jonathan Chute offered on Sunday, March 3 at 11:30 am and Monday, March 25 at 4:30 pm (choose the date/time that works for you, class is 90 minutes in length)
“Statement of Faith” with Kristin Reksc offered Sunday, April 7 at 11:30 am and Wednesday April 17 at 5:00 pm (choose the date/time that works for you, class is 60 minutes in length)
Youth will hear from congregation members who will share about their faith journeys at the beginning of each class. Kristin, the Director of Youth Ministries, will be in weekly contact with youth to track progress and to offer support and guidance throughout the process. Youth are encouraged to interview other adults in their lives about their faith journeys as well.
Each young person’s pathway will be unique and can be tailored to interests and schedule. Guidance will be provided by a point system. Each member of the confirmation group needs to document their pathway, either by keeping a written log or by sending a selfie to Kristin at the completion of each chosen activity. Please consult with Kristin Reksc or Rev. April Herron along the way with questions or needs for assistance.
