Aim for the fullness of life that God intends for us through wellness of mind, body and spirit.
Welcome! We see a vital connection between these three elements for our growth and happiness. Our Health and Wellness Ministry is led by our parish nurse and our Health and Wellness Committee whose members are selected by the church. We also welcome newcomers. Our goal is to help members of our church and our community attain a fuller, healthier, happier experience in living.
Our Parish Nurse
Annette Matsuda RN, BSN, is on staff and available Sunday, Monday and Wednesday mornings.
Annette provides the following services:
- Visits with those who are hospitalized, homebound, ill, or in bereavement.
- Provides individual health counseling and referrals for resources.
- Performs blood pressure screenings after morning services on the second and fourth Sundays. Evening screenings are done after Third Service on the third Sunday.
Annette works closely with our Health and Wellness committee to plan and promote activities.
Health and Wellness Opportunities
Informational sessions are planned periodically. Recent topics have included “Caregiving and Hope” and “What to Eat to Optimize Your Health – The Myths, The Mysteries, and the Take-home Message”. Sessions are usually held at noon with a Brown Bag Lunch. When scheduled, the details are posted in the Weekly Church Bulletin inserted in Sunday morning service programs and on the Upcoming Events page of this website.
Books, multimedia, and printed resource materials are available in the nurse’s office and may be borrowed.
CPR/AED classes are scheduled annually for church staff and members.
Care Notes booklets are available on subjects relevant to adults, teens and children. These booklets offer suggestions for coping with various challenges.
