5/25/14 – Jonathan Chute – “To an Unknown God”
Sermon: Jonathan Chute
This week’s scripture tells of Paul’s visit to Athens to share the story of Jesus. He tells the Greek people that he is there on behalf of a god whom they already know about, but do not yet know directly. He says he has found a shrine in the city dedicated “to an unknown god,” and he wants them to see that this “unknown” god is in fact the God who made all things, the God and Father of Jesus Christ.

Mother’s Day 5/11/14 – Jonathan Chute – “When We Were Very Young”
Sermon: Jonathan Chute
This Sunday’s scripture describes the life of the church in its earliest days. The worship of the newly born Christian community is warm and welcoming. There is generosity and sharing with anyone in need. They are growing in the knowledge and love of God. They are making a difference in the world. It is a picture of the kind of community which people hope to find even today.

Third Sunday of Easter 5/04/14 – Jonathan Chute – “Seeing Jesus”
Sermon: Jonathan Chute
This Sunday’s gospel takes place on the afternoon and evening of Easter. A stranger joins two of the disciples as they are walking down the road and talks with them about the events of the past week. They invite him to join them for the night and he agrees. But at the supper table, as the stranger takes, blesses and breaks the bread, the two disciples see that it is the risen Christ who has been with them all along.
