The writer is eager not only to emphasize the joyful privilege and significance of belonging to God, but also to offer encouragement and prayer for the readers and listeners. The text for April’s sermon is Ephesians 3:14-21, and her title is “Praying for You.”

7/19/15 – Jonathan Chute – “Sea of Compassion”
Sermon: Sermon
Our gospel for this week follows the return of the disciples from their work in and around Galilee. Jesus hears the reports of all they have done and takes them away for a time of renewal. They get in a boat and head off by themselves – or so they think. When they get to what was supposed to be a deserted place, they find a large crowd waiting. Instead of the rest he promised, they find plenty of work waiting. Jesus has stirred the hopes of the people. Though he and the disciples are tired, he responds with compassion. The text for Jonathan’s sermon is Mark 6:30-34, and 53-56, and his title is “Sea of Compassion.”

Sermon: Sermon
In this weeks scripture, David is making a move. He is bringing the ark of God from its previous location into Jerusalem, which is now going to be known as the city of David. From this city David will reign over a united kingdom. The transport of the ark, which represents God’s presence with the people, is an occasion requiring extreme care, great celebration, reverence, and generosity. The text for April’s sermon is 2 Samuel 6:1-5, 12b-19, and her title is “On the Move.”

7/5/15 – Jonathan Chute – “At Home on the Road”
Sermon: Sermon
When Jesus returns to his hometown, those who knew him from the beginning have a hard time hearing what he has to say. In the face of their resistance he can hardly accomplish a thing. Soon afterward he sends his disciples out to carry on his work in other places. He tells them how to handle both welcome and rejection on their journeys, and to be sure to pack light. The text for Jonathan’s sermon is Mark 6:1-13, and his title is “At Home on the Road.”
