Missions Committee Collection
Thank you to those who were able to join our seminar on homelessness. As one participant noted, the statistics are shocking. In case you missed it, you can watch the video replay at this link: Homelessness. You can view the slides prepared by presenter Nancy Wilcox that we used during the presentation here: Homeless Slides
As mentioned in the recent Cornerstone, the Missions Committee is sponsoring a collection drive over the next few months to help the homeless population. Don’t feel like shopping? Monetary donations are welcome! You can donate online at rhumc.org or send a check payable to RHUMC to the church at 26438 Crenshaw Blvd, Rolling Hills Estates, CA. 90274. In either case, please note in the designated giving line or in the memo line on your check that the donation is for the HOMELESS MINISTRY.
If shopping is more your thing, here are the items we are collecting:
Covering Basic Needs
The homeless always welcome new socks and underwear. We can use all sizes suitable for men and women. And the women need feminine hygiene products of all kinds. For sanitation reasons, please donate these items new in their original packaging
Helping Newly Housed Homeless
There are various organizations helping to find temporary or long term housing for the homeless. But remember what it was like to move into your first place? You needed EVERY kind of household good. The Missions Committee is seeking to put together 10 “Welcome Home Kits” that Harbor Interfaith can use to assist the newly housed. You can donate whatever portion of the kits appeals to you or contribute cash towards purchases. We estimate a complete kit costs around $350. The items we need for these kits are set out below and suggested items are also available at our Amazon Wish List located at: Amazon Link
