This week’s gospel includes the opening verses of the Sermon on the Mount, some of Jesus’ most beloved, beautiful and provocative teaching. He pronounces God’s blessing on those who face some of life’s deepest struggles. He includes a range of people who are typically not seen to be blessed, at least in earthly terms. He makes it clear that God sees us differently than the world does. The text for Jonathan’s sermon is
Matthew 5:1-12, “Marginal Blessing.”
We will be welcoming new members into our congregation at all three services. At 8:30 Ralph Schilling will be with us. He recently retired from working for many years in aerospace. His wife, Marsha, joined our church family a few years ago. At 10 a.m. we welcome Richard and Liz Ra to our congregation. They are recently married and happily expecting a baby girl to join their family this year. At 5:30 Rae Walker will be joining us. She has been worshiping at 3rd service for a couple of months and looks forward to her new church home with us.
It’s the fifth Sunday of the month, so there will be DONUTS on the patio after each of the morning services. And of course it’s also TACO NIGHT after 3rd service, with all you can eat chicken, steak and pork tacos, rice & bean, chips & salsa, plus something to drink for just $5/person or $15/family. Hope you can come!
The rains have relented, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and we should get together!
See you at church!
