Brynn Albanese, violinist and graduate of Rolling Hills High School Class of ‘86, returns to the Peninsula after 30 years to perform with her Wild Classical crossover group, Cafe Musique! She is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, has performed with the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops. She also was Concertmaster of the Boston Philharmonic and performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra along with The Hague Philharmonic in The Netherlands. She is currently concertmaster of the San Luis Obispo Symphony, San Luis Obispo Opera and Symphony of the Vines. During her tenure with the Boston Symphony and under the direction of John Williams, she recorded on several movies including Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan and Jurassic Park.
Café Musique lives up to its name with a musical pallet that includes gypsy, swing, tango, folk and the self-defined genre, wild classical. The five members seem to eat, sleep and breathe music. They’re from the central coast of California and all five come from wildly different backgrounds, but together they’ve found kindred musical spirits in one another. Having performed around the world and been on the stages of several world-class music festivals, the ensemble has made thousands of fans of their powerful, emotive and beautiful music.
The members of Café Musique are Brynn Albanese on violin and vocals, Duane Inglish on accordion, Fred Murray on bass and vocals, Craig Nuttycombe on guitar and vocals, and Eric Williams on guitars, ukulele, bouzouki, banjo and vocals.
CD “Ebb and Flow” released in March 2016
Café Musique is celebrating its most recent accomplishment in recording their fourth album, Ebb and Flow on Mesa/Bluemoon recordings. From the breathtaking first note of Astor Piazolla’s Libertango to the sweet gentleness and warmth of the title song, Ebb and Flow, the album will not disappoint fans of the gypsy ensemble with the range of emotion, power and beauty they have become known for.
“Café Musique gave one of the most dynamic and entertaining shows we’ve ever had in our venue. The audience rose to their feet and screamed for more, as did we. They will, most definitely, be back!”
Peter Cutler & Deborah Hand-Cutler, Fiddlers Crossing, Tehachapi, Ca
“Whoa! Oh my God! Hell’s bells! The debut album by Café Musique is wicked good! I seriously can’t say enough good things about this album, which demonstrates a level of musicianship and an emotional impact rarely found.”
Glenn Starkey, Music Critic, New Times, San Luis Obispo
“Their sound is something like two scoops of gypsy folk with classical sauce and a sprinkling of chopped jazz. It’s delicious, exotic and just overflowing with talent … the group was phenomenal, alternating smoothly from fast and fun to serious and endearing, but it was the group’s humor that really stole the show. ”
Nick Powell, New Times, San Luis Obispo
