Our existing educational facilities were built fifty years ago as a home for Sunday School. Back then no one imagined that they would serve over a hundred preschool aged children a day, five days a week. Over the years their condition has deteriorated well beyond their original life expectancy.
We want to provide our children with facilities that match the quality and character of the rest of our campus. A modern, flexible, safer and greener campus will benefit children in the South Bay for years to come.
Where We Are Headed
The new buildings will match the colors and textures of our sanctuary and office. They allow lots of natural light and easy access to playgrounds for our youngest members. Security is also improved with a single entry point within sight of church staff. The classrooms allow for growth in our preschool, and provide excellent new space for Kid Zone, our after school program for children from K-8th grade.
Our Preschool will use the first floor classrooms, with Kid Zone upstairs. Second floor rooms will also be available for evening meetings for adults and youth activities throughout the year. An elevator will provide access for users of all ages.
The plan creates two large playground areas, one in a courtyard enclosed by the new buildings and one alongside Crenshaw Boulevard. This second will bring visibility and create a sense of openness to the campus from one of the busiest streets in the South Bay. People who come to our site always remark on its beauty and tranquility. We want others to be able to discover that spirit as well.
